Frequently asked questions
When may my patient step on or off?
Only when the green light is on and you have heard the beep. The platform is then in the step-on position, resting on its frame, not on its wheels. If the lights are off (sleep mode, or the platform is on its wheels) or the light flashes red (the platform is moving, raised or on its wheels), your patient must not step on or off.
What happens when the battery is nearly flat?
The platform will no longer go up and you will hear a double beep. If the battery runs out while your patient is in the raised position, stay with your patient and connect the medical power supply, or ask a colleague to do so: the platform goes down one more time to the step-on position, so that your patient can step off. Then charge the battery: charging to 80% takes approx. 3 hours, a full charge approx. 5 hours.
Can I use the Simple Up while it is charging?
No. The platform cannot be operated while charging, with one exception: if the platform is raised and the battery is flat, it goes down once to the step-on position after you connect the medical power supply.
How do I position the Simple Up in front of the wall bucky?
With no patient on it, put the platform on its wheels and roll it in front of the detector. One press of the up button puts it back on its frame, in the step-on position. When raising the platform, make sure that it does not touch the detector and that nothing above your patient is in the way, such as the X-ray tube. Never move the Simple Up with a patient on it.
Can I take a weight-bearing lateral foot X-ray?
Yes. The metal frame may cause scatter on the image, so place the foot on a PVC plate approximately 2 cm thick (see the user manual).
How do I clean the Simple Up?
Follow the cleaning protocol supplied with the user manual. Wipe the housing and grab handles with a diluted solution of cocoalkyl dimethylbenzyl ammonium chloride or chloroxylenol, or with mild soap, and the anti-slip mat with a damp cloth. The Simple Up is not suitable for sterilisation or for disinfection with heat or steam.
Does the Simple Up go into sleep mode?
Yes, after 30 seconds of inactivity; the lights then go out. Press the up button once to reactivate it.
Which patients is the Simple Up intended for?
For adult patients up to 200 kg who stand for an X-ray in the X-ray room and hold on with both hands, under the supervision of medical staff. The Simple Up is not intended for seated X-rays, for children or for moving patients. Use it only in the X-ray room.
Does the Simple Up contribute to measures to reduce physical strain on staff?
Yes. Your patient is raised to imaging height, so you can work upright. The height at which you work depends on the examination and your wall stand. The measures you need are set out in your organisation’s manual handling risk assessment.
Can I try the Simple Up first?
Yes. Hospitals and diagnostic centres in the Netherlands can trial the Simple Up CL 3.0 in their own department for two weeks. Delivery, assembly, training of your staff and collection are free of charge, and there is no obligation to buy. We schedule the trial with you and agree the terms in writing beforehand, including use by trained staff, damage and insurance. Your clinical engineering department receives all documents needed for commissioning in advance. If your organisation is preparing or running a tender for a comparable product, a trial is only possible within that procedure. Outside the Netherlands, please contact the distributor in your country, or us if there is none. Request an on-site trial
How big is the Simple Up?
131 × 52 × 112 cm (L × W × H) in the lowest position, 90 kg. Without a patient on it, it rolls on four swivel castors with bearings, so you can move it aside when you do not need it. Then put it back on its frame, in the step-on position, so that the castors do not develop flat spots. Do not store it with a flat battery.
